Best Christmas surprise ever. You can just call me Auntie. We are very excited if you can't tell. Baby will be joining us in July. And it will be the first grandchild on both sides of the family. I don't think spoiled adequately describes what this child is going to be. I cannot wait to find out what my sister is having so I can begin shopping my guts out.

Go time

I am counting down the hours until it is time to go home. I am finally starting to feel like it is Christmas, which makes me want to be home even more than ever. I cannot wait for the snow, the lights on temple square, seeing old friends, and being with my fabulous family. And I am especially excited this Christmas to talk to my brother.
It is going to be a beautiful holiday.
And in the meantime, I am also quite looking forward to my pre-Christmas with Ty on Wednesday.

Happy Holidays friends!

Who doesn't love giant fans taking over their house?

After aforementioned sewage flood we needless to say had some clean-up to do. After our moron apartment manager informed me that we would not be having anyone come to disinfect our bathrooms, the task fell to me. Suffice it to say I was not pleased. After I could delay no longer I finally set to the task. Again suffice it to say it took all the will power I could muster not to barf in the tub and shower. They were that bad. Just as I set into my work the flooring guys who were supposed to show up "first thing in the morning!" finally appeared (at 7:45 PM). They informed us that all of flooring in the bathroom had to come out and half of the carpet in our bedroom did as well. Awesome. So while they were demo-ing Steve and Danielle's (who were lucky enough to experience the same flood) house I proceeded to scour the bathrooms. First with a highly concentrated dose of bleach, second with a round of soft scrub and third, just for good measure, mold and mildew remover for the whole bathroom. My bathrooms smelled like a clean hospital room for all of five minutes before the floor guys were back and tearing my house apart. Now we have a grand total of three very large industrial fans and one giant anti-humidifier in our room/bathroom. I woke up this morning to dry cracked skin and intensely staticy hair thanks to that baby. A word to the wise for all of you out there who have not had the sheer pleasure of a flood...just don't let it happen. Thats really all. Also, if there is anyone out there who has ever wondered what it felt like to be in a hurricane I invite you to come stand in our bathroom.
There was a high point to all of this fun however. My sweet friend Dian at work gave me these babies to make the scrubbing less horrifying. They did the trick marvelously. Plus- they are awesome and cute.

Also- I found it highly embarrassing when the floor guy asked me to clear out my closet floor so they could tear up the carpet...meaning...I had to remove all of my shoes while he stood there watching. It was a good reminder that maybe there comes a time when one has enough shoes...and then again...maybe not. :)

Next Chapter: Plumber comes and actually fixes whatever it is that is causing our house to overflow with sewer water. And, it may be a good idea to clean up our backyard which is currently acting as holding spot for all water/sewer coming from our building. But don't worry, I won't post any pictures of that. Lets just say I will NEVER again walk barefoot on our lawn area. And I advise you to do the same.

Guess what happened at my house last night?

A big giant flood full of sewage! All over! 45 minutes before my dinner party.
Thats all I have to say about that.
Also- my car door broke. Which means I have to crawl in through the passenger side to drive it.
Also- geese pooped on my car {and we are talking A LOT} and when I went to get it washed the place was closed due to fozen pipes.
So all in all...its one of 'those' days.

Flower Power

I have been doing a little crafting. Not very like me, I know. If you didn't know, I have a little obsession with headbands - sort of along the lines of nail polish, shoes, and purses. Anyway- After being depressed that all the cute ones I like are 50 gajillion dollars on every Etsy shop in and out of town, I decided it would be a fun adventure to make my own. And here are some examples of what I came up with. Apparently my mediums are felt and zipper. I have to give all credit for the felt flowers to Danielle, who is a much more experienced and skilled crafter than I, and without her I would be flowerless. She got me going. I love the felt ones for buns or even to clip on your coat or shirt.
There is a hair clip and pin on back of each flower! Yay!
P.S. I know these pictures are bad- I just took them of myself sitting at my desk. So bear with me and I will get some better ones up at some point.

But! If you like them I would love to make one for you! These are great little stocking stuffers. You don't have to pick the colors you see here. I can do them big or small in pretty much any color. Two flowers and a headband are $10 (Or two small flowers and one big one). And don't worry, I won't feel bad if you don't buy one because I will just wear them all myself!
Email me at if you are interested and we can talk business.
Serious business.
Happy Holidays!

Thinking on a Friday? Never a good idea.

I have been thinking today about how interesting it is that life takes you down so many paths that you never intended to travel down. And while I think that some people perhaps may get the very life they planned out in their head, that has not been the case with me. Now I don't say that in sadness- I am actually very grateful for the changes that have come my way, for the completely different life than I ever thought I was capable of living. Yet, it does sometimes cause you to pause and think back over the cross roads along the way and wonder "What if I had gone left instead of right?" But no matter how difficult things get, or how confusing and hazy the future looks, I feel incredibly blessed to be able to say that I am grateful for where I am. I am grateful that I can look at the place I am in my life and be so happy that I was thrown so many adventures that I would have cowered at just a few years before. What a boring little life I would have lived if it had all gone my way. So here is to being thankful that life is not always what you expect. For one thing, if I had not ended up here in Portland I would not have these lovely ladies in my life...and that would be a very sad thing.
And I have very very good/big news. After much surfing and searching of the world wide webosphere I have finally found what I have been looking for...
My new favorite OPI color!
How appropriate for my stocking that needs stuffing.
{Hint Hint mom/tyler/sarser/whoever is still needing to buy me a gift!}

To covet.

My mother has a bajillion dollar vacuum. To the untrained eyes out there you might think "why on earth would I want to spend a bajillion dollars on a vacuum? It does the same thing as my regular vacuum." Well friends, you are incorrect. When I was home over the weekend I spent some quality one on one time with that vacuum. It was magical. It sucked every single little particle completely off the floor. It also tackled the huge pieces of ornaments that broke all over the floor and carpet. It practically moves on its own. And the lines it leaves in its wake...oh those lines. If you know me at all you know how I feel about vacuum lines. Now that I am home I find myself having feelings of animosity towards my little vacuum. I have not been on the best of terms with my vacuum for awhile now, but after my affair with my mothers...things are really not going well. I want a vacuum that sucks dust out of the air as you vacuum the floor, and that leaves those beautiful, crisp, deep clean lines in your carpet. This is what it feels like to covet.
Now I know.
mmm. vacuum lines.

I have a puppy

Actually she is my moms puppy, but she is freaking cute. And she fell in love with me the moment we met. I knew she would because I brought her the very first clothing article of her life. And what girl doesn't appreciate that?

Then later we bought her a hoodie and she loved that too. Obviously.

A little time with the people I love most was just what the doctor ordered.

Hope you all had a lovely Holiday!

Maxy Pad

You know what makes losing to BYU a whole lot less painful?
Our buddy Maxy Pad's (as we call him in our home) little rant on Utah.
What a winner.

Now please go look at this post on Dasha's blog, because she is funny.

Just to get Tuesday started right...

How do you not love this guy?
